The time is nearing as Lost Creek Bridge gets prepared for a much needed face lift. Crews arrived on site Monday, July 22 with their equipment and began marking the road for construction. MoDOT Engineer Erik Maninga explained that the bridge will only be closed for 25-day’s to help minimize the impact on traffic and community commuting.
The 75-year-old Lost Creek Bridge will be replaced with a new 32-foot wide bridge with 12-foot lanes and four-foot shoulders. Message boards will be in place recommending local and tourism traffic to use Routes B, W and Y as an alternate route of travel. All commercial truck traffic normally traveling on MO 79 should use US 61, MO 47 and Route B.
R. V. Wagner, Inc. of St. Louis, MO was the successful bidder at a cost of $883,928.38. For more information about this bridge or others projects in the area, please contact the MoDOT’s Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636) or visit http://modot.mo.gov/northeast.
The bridge should be reopened by mid-August.
