Country living and country fun at 2013 Lincoln County Fair
This year’s Lincoln County Fair could possibly be one of the best to date, as people came from all over the state to enjoy the overwhelming amounts of festivities and entertainment.
It was possibly one of the most enjoyable events of the year as almost every corner of the Fairgrounds seemed to have a something going on. On one end of the grounds, children and families got to enjoy several rides, as well as games. On the other end, people filled the grounds and bleachers to watch Jerrod Niemann and Rodney Atkins rock the stage.
But it wasn’t just about good music and wild rides. Also featured throughout he fair were several other attractions, such as the demolition derby, Back yard BBQ contests, truck and tractor pulls, greased pig scrambles, turtle races, ATV races and so much more.
However, this years fair wasn’t just about good times and good country fun, it was also about helping out those in need. This year, people were asked to bring in a variety of canned foods, which would then be donated to different families throughout Lincoln County. In return for their donations, those who participated received a 50 cent off coupon for a fountain drink at the fair.
While some spent the day, showing off their livestock, others seemed to enjoy the variety of exhibits at this year’s fair. Agri-land, featured a wide array of breads, desserts, meats and just about everything one could think of that won an award this year. In fact several of Elsberry’s own FFA members placed quite well for their smoked hams, which sat on display right out side the Ari-land building.
Just a few feet away, people had the opportunity to enjoy watching the Dock Dogs events, which always seem to be a popular attraction each year, as well as the petting zoo that sat right beside it. Another thing that seemed to impress people this year was how involved the 2013 Lincoln County Fair Queen and runner ups were, as they represented Lincoln County. Jesse Knox, who won runner up, sang the National Anthem at the demolition derby and just before Saturday nights main attractions took the stage.
It was a week of great memories and life changing events for so many and according to a few people that attended, they can’t wait to see what next year brings.
