A domestic incident in Lincoln County resulted in an officer being assaulted and two women facing charges.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 Block of Country View Drive, Foley, for a domestic dispute between siblings. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who stated his sister, 23 year-old Geneva May Faust, had a verbal disagreement with him in reference to moving her vehicle from the driveway and access to the home’s shower.
During the argument, Faust began to kick, bite and punched the victim. As the victim attempted to leave the residence she threw a pair of large gardening shears, which struck him. In addition, she struck him with an aluminum crutch. Deputies observed multiple bleeding wounds to the victim’s arm and a swollen left eye.
Faust admitted to throwing the shears and assaulting her brother with the crutch. Faust was arrested for Domestic Assault 2nd Degree.
While affecting the arrest, the arresting deputy requested Faust’s mother, 54 year-old Christine May Dunlap, retrieve her daughter’s shoes from the residence.
Dunlap returned from the residence with the shoes and cursed the deputies and demanded they leave immediately. In the
process of shouting, she threw the shoes which struck the arresting deputy in the face and chest.
Dunlap then resisted arrest and attempted to strike the deputy with a closed fist. Dunlap was arrested for Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer by Means of Physical Contact. “In cases like this, where families cannot handle their interpersonal differences, arguments can quickly turn violent and explosive. My deputies are specially trained to handle volatile situations to ensure their personal safety and those of the community,” said Sheriff Cottle.
