After two tournament titles the Elsberry American Legion Post 226 “A” team took to the road against St. Peters and for Elsberry they rolled to another victory this time 8-1.
Taking the mound for Post 226 was Zach Rimel (Elsberry), who had already thrown a no-hitter this season. He went six innings recording nine strikeouts.
He was helped in the third inning by Payton White (Troy) whol make a spectacular diving catch to end the inning leaving two runners on base.
Dave Dietz (Clopton) led Post 226 with 3RBI’s on the night. Colby Martin (Elsberry) and Matt Henry (Elsberry) each had an RBI. Ryan Palmer (Winfield) and Henry also picked up a double each.
In their first regular season game the Elsberry American Legion Post 226 “A” team traveled to New Haven on June 4.
Taking the mound for Coach Greg White’s squad was Tyler Turnbull (Elsberry). Turnbull allowed only one hit in five innings. Not only did he keep Post 226 in the game with his pitching Turnbull also recorded two hits, one being a double that drove in the tying run in the sixth inning.
Joey Marko (Winfield) came on in relief to pitch the sixth and seventh innings. Marko picked up two strikeouts in the seventh to get the save.
