Funeral Services for Lewis Francis Lavy of Elsberry, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Bob Hutsell, pastor of Praying Hands Church of Louisiana, will officiate with burial in the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Jess Edward Lavy, Kenny Gregory Lavy, Lloyd Douglas Farmer, Lisa Mae Farmer, Duke Bufford and Ronnie Vaughn.

Mr. Lavy, 74, died Saturday morning, May 25, 2013 at Silex Community Care Center near Silex. Born May 26, 1938 in St. Charles he was the son of Jess Francis and Ruby M. Yarnell Lavy. He was united in marriage on June 29, 1963 in Elsberry to Latricia Gail Kerpash. This union was blessed with two children: Jess Edward and Lisa Mae. He worked for a number of years as supervisor of municipal water utilities for Rock Island, IL and Tampa, FL, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Praying Hands Church in Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ruby Lavy; twin infant sisters; two brothers: Jesse C. and Bill Lavy; two sisters: Ellen Lavy and Rubin Bell Lavy; one step-brother, Dellray Lavy and one step-sister, Babe Collins.

Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Gail Lavy of Elsberry; one son, Jesse Lavy and his wife, Robbin, of Elsberry; one daughter: Lisa Farmer and her husband, Lloyd of Tampa, FL; four grandchildren: Christina Ann Elston and her husband, Don, Jesse James Lavy, Kenneth Gregory Lavy and Tiffany Amber Farmer; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Bob Lavy and his wife, Shirley, of Chillicothe, IL; one sister, Rillia Lavy Poteet and her husband, Jim, of Bellflower; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.

Ellen Purvis

Funeral Services for Ellen Lea Purvis of Elsberry, was held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Elsberry Assembly of God Church in Elsberry. Rev. Richard Pillers, church pastor, officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery near Elsberry. Serving as pallbearers were Tony Sherrow, Colton Willis, Cliff Hardy, Wayne Hardy, Lonnie Hardy, Jim Pruitt and Richard Davis. Serving as honorary pallbearer were Raymond “Pistol” Momphard.

Ms. Purvis, 69, died Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2013 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born April 14, 1944 in Mount Moriah, IA, she was the daughter of Cecil William and Onneda Fern Johnston Hardy. She worked for over twenty years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for the Elsberry Health Care Center, retiring in 2007.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Oneeda Johnston; and two brothers: Paul William Hardy as an infant and Harry Dean Hardy in 2001.

Survivors include two brothers: Harold Eugene Hardy and his wife, Dixie, of Savannah and Aubrey Hardy of Winfield; and one sister-in-law, Jean Hardy of Elsberry. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Elsberry Assembly of God Church.

Robert Stephen Harke

Robert Stephen “Bob” Harke of Old Monroe died Thursday evening, May 30, 2013 at the age of 90.

Visitation was held on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home near Winfield.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Monroe.

Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.

Yvettae “Pete” McClelland

Yvettae “Pete” McClelland of Old Monroe, died late Saturday night, May 25, 2013 at the age of 82.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Winfield near Winfield, MO.

Interment was in Valhalla Cemetery.
