Funeral services for Barbara Lindell Howard of Elsberry were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Lamar Hester, pastor of Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ in Troy officiated with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Joe Talbot, Chad Dormire, Dylan Howard, Brock Howard, Tyler Howard, Brandon Talbot, Kevin Glisson and Randall Glisson.

Mrs. Howard, 78, died Friday evening, April 12, 2013 at the Elsberry Health Care Center near Elsberry. Born June 11, 1934 in Cunningham, KY, she was the daughter of L. Wallace “L.W.” and Rubye Juanita Dossett Glisson. Raised in Lovelaceville, KY, she was a 1951 graduate of Lone Oak High School in Paduka, KY. She was united in marriage on Sept. 10, 1954 in Cunningham, KY to David William “Bill” Howard. This union was blessed with three children: Carla Renee, David Keith and Kyle William. She was employed as a U.S. Postal Service rural mail carrier for many years, retiring in 1995. She volunteered for many years at the Elsberry Public Library and then the J.R. Palmer Library in Elsberry. She was a long-time member of the DNC Club in Elsberry. Barbara was an active and faithful member of the Louisiana Church of Christ from 1956 until 2000 when her health began to fail. She was currently a member of the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ in Troy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.W. and Rubye Glisson; one brother, John Glisson; one grandson, Lucas Andrew “Luke” Talbot in 1985; and her beloved husband of 36 years, Bill Howard, who died Aug. 3, 1990.

Survivors include her children: Carla Talbot and her husband, Joe, of Elsberry, Keith Howard and his wife, Theresa, of Elsberry, and Kyle Howard and his wife, Tracy, also of Elsberry; seven grandchildren: Brandon (Shelley) Talbot, Jodie (Chad) Dormire, Tyler Howard, Kelsie Howard, Sarah Howard, Dylan Howard and Brock Howard; three step-grandchildren: Jonathan Osborne, Tyler Price and Dalton Price; and three great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Talbot, Isabella Talbot and Brynnli Dormire. She also leaves one brother, David Glisson and his wife, Naretta, of Antioch, TN; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Glisson of Padukah, and Kathryn Howard of Elsberry; several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.

Funeral services for Larry Wayne “Tinker” Vaughn of Elsberry will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church near Elsberry. Rev. John Zellmer, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Lewis, Ronnie Vaughn, Jr., Lance Lewis, John Lewis, Bill Wehde, Joe Robinson, Jerry Lewis and Luke Norton.

Mr. Vaughn, 77, died Saturday evening, April 13, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles. Born April 20, 1935 in Elsberry, he was the son of Charles T. and Martha Mae Robinson Vaughn. A lifelong resident of Elsberry, he was a 1953 graduate of Elsberry High School. He was united in marriage on June 1, 1957 in Annada to Dorothy Joean Lewis. This union was blessed with two daughters, Terrie and Lisa. Employed at McDonnell-Douglas for almost 34 years, he rose through the ranks of the aircraft manufacturer to the position of inspector, retiring in June of 1990. He was an agent for the Reliable Life Insurance Co. from 1990 until 1995. In the early 70s, he served as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Lincoln County.

Active in his community, he was a former member of the Lincoln County R-2 School Board; was a Khourey League Softball Coach for many years; and was a member of the Elsberry Lions Club. He was an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles T. Vaughn; and one sister, Gloria Tolbert.

Survivors include his beloved wife of almost 56 years, Dorothy Vaughn of Elsberry; two daughters: Terrie Harper and Lisa Vaughn, both of Elsberry; four grandchildren: Haley Harper-Haworth, Katie Harper, Luke Norton and his wife, Jackie, and Randi Jo Norton; and three great-grandchildren: Ava and Ella Haworth and Zane Norton. He also leaves his devoted mother, Martha Vaughn of Elsberry; several in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

Visitation was held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry; and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 at New Hope Baptist Church. Glen J. Mills

Funeral services for Glen James Mills of Elsberry will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry. Rev. Sammy Lorton, pastor of the Whiteside Holiness Church, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Alan Mills, Harlan Scherrer, Scott Mills, Darren Mills, Rob Mills and Grant Mills.

Mr. Mills, 93, died early Sunday morning, April 14, 2013 at St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis. Born Nov. 11, 1919 in Elsberry, he was the son of Raymond Elmer and Sarah Edna Admire Mills. He was united in marriage on Oct. 31, 1939 in Union to Dorris Eileen Doll. This union was blessed with two children, Leslie and Rick. He served his country in the U.S. Army from Sept. 1, 1938 until being honorably discharged on Nov. 21, 1939; and enlisted again in the U.S. Navy during World War II from March 20, 1942 until being honorably discharged on Oct. 22, 1945. He worked for many years as an automotive service manager for various car dealerships in the St. Louis area, retiring in 1978. He was a former member of the Automotive Service Manager’s Association and a former member of the American Legion in Ballwin and presently a member of VFW Post #9064 in Elsberry.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Ruth Ann Mills at the age of three, and Oneita Robinson in 1950; three brothers: Ray Mills, Jr. in 1977, Lavern “Dutch” Mills in 2000 and Ralph Mills in 2005; his son, Rick Mills in 1978; and his beloved wife of almost 58 years, Dorris Mills who died Aug.24, 1997.

Survivors include his daughter, Leslie Gulledge and her husband, Charles, of Richardson, TX; one grandchild, Nicole Ginsberg and great-grandchildren. He also leaves two sisters: Marcella Owens and her husband, John, of Paynesville, and Mary Velma Robinson of Elsberry; several cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.

Geraldine Virginia Lee “Gerry” Kloepper of Foley died late Wednesday morning April 10, 2013 at the age of 90.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry.
