As the weather still remains in cooler temperatures the Plant Material Center is beginning to burn off the cooler weathered plants to make room for new growth. This is a technique shared by farmers, nurseries and even the Levee District and it’s purpose is too kill any weed competitions.
In mid April the Center will do other controlled burns for warmer climate plants. The Plant Material Center also does these burns to kill off old projects. By burning current growth and then spraying as new growth forms they are able to prepare the ground for new projects, as shown above.
