The annual meeting of the Neighbors of the Mississippi (NOM) was held Feb. 20, at Portage Des Sioux.
During the meeting, reports on last year’s activities were given and plans for the New Year were given and U.S. State Representative for the 11th District Ed Schieffer was the guest speaker.
Terry Walton, Brian Wehde, Jerry Daughtery and Nancy Guyton, NOM Secretary, attended meetings in Warsaw, Il and in Troy: Mark Harvey has attended meetings on behalf of NOM and Mark and Jerry Daugherty gave a presentations at the Mississippi River Commission meeting in Alton, Il; Andy Burkemper, Chairman of the board attended the Mississippi Valley Flood Control Association meeting in New Orleans, La, and several board members have made trips to Washington D.C.
James Aslin, NOM Treasure, stated he will begin working a website and committees are being formed to work toward current goals.
The NOM membership looks to this new year with enthusiasm as they continue to provide representation for citizens of Pike, Lincoln and St. Charles Counties on issues of common interest concerning the Mississippi River and tributaries which flow through the counties.
