State Rep. Ed Schieffer of the 41st District will be announcing at a 9 a.m. press conference Saturday, at the Missouri Democrat Days at the Hannibal Inn, that he will seek the Democratic nomination to the 10th Senatorial District in 2014. The 10th Senatorial District includes six counties: Audrain, Callaway, Lincoln, Monroe, Montgomery and Warren.
The current senator, Jolie Justus, is termed out after 2013. This upcoming election will be the first opportunity for voters to elect a senator in this recently reorganized district. Rep. Schieffer is in his last term representing Lincoln County in the House of Representatives.
