After Elsberry was hit with approximately seven inches of snow on Thursday, Feb. 21, a few local kids decided to help out those who needed it. Elsberry Freshman Dawson Dameron and Gavin Womack, hit the streets of Hillcrest Subdivision on Friday, Feb. 22 by shoveling the walk ways and driveways of elderly residents.

“I just wanted to help people be able to get out of their driveways and what not, so they could go to the store or do what they need to do,” said Dameron. “It’s not all about making money, it’s more about helping out around here.”

Dameron went on to say how this is something he has wanted to do for the last few years but has not been able to find the time to do so. However, with a four day, weekend he and Womack made the time.

“I just wanted to help every one get out of their driveway because we got like seven inches of snow,” said Womack.

When asked how they felt and if the 28 degree weather was cold enough, Dameron said he was more than dressed, while Womack said it was beyond cold. Dameron and Womack did approximately six houses throughout Hillcrest.
