Two new teachers round out the English department at EHS, Tori Towery and Sarah Sehie.
Ms. Towery teaches English I for freshmen and Literature Enrichment for middle school students. Mrs. Sehie replaces retiree, Ezra Tillotson, so she teaches English II, English III and Short Stories.
English I just finished The Odyssey by Homer. Students are now working on research projects in which they research someone throughout history they consider to be heroic. Classes will then give a brief presentation on their personal history and their influence on our society. Literature Enrichment is reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Classes are discussing how everyday people (young people especially) can be heroes just by choosing to do the right thing at the right time. For both classes, Ms. Towery, is planning an evening event celebrating “Heroes among Us” in which the community will celebrate personal heroes and heroes in our community.
