U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer has formally announced the opportunity for young artists living in the 3rd Congressional District to display their talents as part of the 2013 Congressional Art Competition. Information about the art competition was sent earlier this week to high school art teachers.

“This competition provides a great opportunity to encourage and recognize the rich artistic talents of our young people in the 3rd Congressional District and I am very much looking forward to seeing these works of art and recognizing all these folks for their abilities,” Luetkemeyer said.

The winning entry from the 3rd District will not only be recognized in the local competition, but will also be displayed in Washington, D.C. for an entire year. The winning art piece will join other art pieces from congressional districts around the country at the U.S. Capitol. The 3rd District’s winning student will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony in Washington, D.C. this summer to unveil the winning artwork from around the nation. The 3rd District winner will also be awarded round-trip airfare to Washington, D.C. for the ceremony.
