Hometown Hero; Elsberry teachers go above and beyond to help students succeed

Sarah O’Brien is another teacher who wears many hats, as she is an English teacher, Head Coach for the Elsberry Cross Country Team and a speech teacher. She is just one of the several teachers who dedicate ample time to the success of Elsberry students.

Being a hero does not mean a person has to wear a cape and leap tall buildings. It is not required to have a badge and shield placed upon their uniforms. It does not mean they were able to lift a car in a moment of adrenaline. Sometimes being a hero just means changing the lives of those around them.

It has been said by so many that the teachers of the Elsberry R-II School District go above and beyond the call of their written contract. They are said to spend a great deal of personal time in an effort to make sure even one student succeeds, as well as, finding and developing new programs and methods to make sure all their students succeed.

“I can’t say enough about our teachers and aides,” said Lynn Weakly. “The teachers who seem to stay are those who are more involved in the community, as they are from here and want to do their part in making sure we have a great community.”
