The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association presents an award (Student Assistant of the Year) each year to those deserving honorees and to honor the legacy left by the late Curtis Kerr (1979-2002).

The first Curtis Kerr Memorial Award was first presented in April of 2010 and will be an ongoing award to those deserving each year.

This award is presented annually to the top student managers in the state, this award honors those young men and women who give themselves so unselfishly towards the benefit of their schools teams. It is named after Curtis, who was a perfect example of what this award is really about during his time as manager for the Indians at Elsberry High School Class of 1997.

Mr. and Mrs. Kerr have been presented a plaque in Curtis’s honor and we at Elsberry High School will also hang a plaque to recognize Curtis and this award.
