K-9 unit no longer an option in Elsberry
What has seemed to be an ongoing request by the Elsberry Police Department may yet again be placed on hold as preparation for the 2013 Police Budget and comments made, have halted the securing of an Elsberry K-9 unit.
It was in the September City Council meeting where part-time Elsberry Police Officer Gregory Jolliff presented the board of six Aldermen and the Elsberry City Mayor Terry Martin with an idea that seemed flawless. According to Jolliff, he was presented with an opportunity to provide the city with a K-9, named Luther, at little to no cost to them, other than training, which would come out of the training budget.
