Former Elsberry resident takes first in bench press
The River’s Edge USA Powerlifting Championship sanctioned competition was held Saturday, Nov. 3 in Granite City, IL. A full roster of sixty competitors from across the nation gathered to put their strength and skills to the test in three separate events: Bench Press, Squat Lift and Dead Lift. Kyle Steavenson (formerly of Elsberry) entered one event and took first in his division of the raw bench press event by pressing 237lbs.
Steavenson, an Elite Personal Trainer for Blast (formerly Bally) in Maryland Heights has been training Chanda Adair of St. Louis for two years; Chanda broke two state records in her division of the raw bench press, and Corey Phillips of Winfield took first in his division across the board.
