Elsberry R-II takes preventative measures
Shown above is Dr. Michael Brown, DDS and Edgar Domingo-Gonzalez. Brown was just one of the many community volunteers that participated in this years program.
For the second year in a row Elsberry School nurse, Jolene Hatcher, LPN, partnered together with the MO Healthy Smiles and put on an Oral Health Preventative Services Program at Elsberry School for grades Pre-K to eighth grade on Thursday, Oct. 4.
The program consists of an annual oral screening (to check for tooth decay), interactive dental education on proper brushing and flossing, a fluoride varnish application twice each year (to help prevent tooth decay), a referral to a dentist for those children needing dental care, and a free toothbrush and toothpaste for all children participating. The program is dependent upon community support and requires volunteers from our community to help with this program.
