Lincoln County Medical Center’s digital mammography earns MQSA Certification
Lincoln County Medical Center has been awarded annual certification in Digital Mammography from the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA), an accreditation program regulated by the US Food & Drug Administration. Congress enacted MQSA to ensure that all women have access to quality mammography for the detection of breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.
Earning MQSA certification demonstrates the ability to exceed the industry standards for mammography and assures our patients and medical community that we provide yet another high quality service to the residents of Lincoln County.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, other than skin cancer. It is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. As alarming as these facts are, the prospect for early detection, successful treatment, and long-term survival is at an all-time high. Annual mammograms can detect cancer early — when it is most treatable. Mammograms can also prevent the need for extensive treatment for advanced cancers.
