A little offense is all the Elsberry Lady Indians softball team needed after three straight shutout losses as they trounced Community R-6 16-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 11 and followed that offensive onslaught with a 18-0 win against Montgomery County one night later.
“Our bats were on fire against Community,” said Head Coach Trudy Bull.
The Lady Indians accounted for 21 hits and each starter had a hit in the first inning.
“I was very pleased with the way the girls jumped out on top early,” said Coach Bull. “We have been struggling with slow starts.”
With that many hits in one game it would be tough to credit the offensive output to just one player. Brittni Hagemeier was 3-3 with 2 RBI’s and a triple. Becca Almus went 3-4 driving in 3 RBI’s. Tanner Bencomo, Sabrina Pruitt and Madison Cleveland all went 3-4 at the plate.
The following night against Montgomery County it was a combination of offense and great pitching. The Lady Indians scored 18 runs on 16 hits and Almus threw a one hitter to shutout Montgomery County.
