Sunday, Sept. 9 is the day to remember as many will be out celebrating Hawk Point Heritage day. Since this day’s inception, folks have come from all over to enjoy fried chicken dinners, as well as homemade cakes and pies.

Those who attend will be able to enjoy their meals in a cool dining room at the Hawk Point VFW Hall or they can get it to go. Either way, there is something for everyone’s convenience. A non-denominational church service will begin at 10 a.m. at Hawk Point Park, where folks can listen to hymns of praise, as well as a sermon presented by Carla Fletcher from the Hawk Point Community Church. Communion will be available.

The variety show will start at 11:30 a.m. featuring a wide variety of talents. Anyone wanting to perform in front of an audience, whether it is singing, instrumental, oral interpretation, dance, twirling, choirs or comedy acts is asked to contact Glenda Fitzgerald at 636-528-6507. Groups and individuals are welcome and a keyboard will be made available.

With this being an election year, representatives from the Hawk Point Committee are inviting candidates to a political forum beginning at noon. Folks are also asked to visit the large assortment of booth and tables consisting of arts and crafts. People will be able to see the quilt display, as well as hear tunes from the TBHS Jazz Band at 1 p.m. Kids games will start at 2 p.m. as well as the Fiddler’s Contest. Also making a grand appearance is Frankie Stanek and the Country Limits.

Anyone seeking more information or for questions about crafts booths is asked to contact Sharon Hasekamp at 636-338-4603. For more information on the Fiddler’s Contest contact Frank Stanek at 636-338-4555.
