Get educated about Cyber Crimes

During the age of computers and cell phones, many parents throughout the area are finding it difficult as to what they can do to protect their children from cyber crimes.

In the most recent study of internet usage conducted by the Pew Research Center, 93 percent of teens aged 12-17 were reported to have daily access to the internet, with 36 percent logging on several times a day.

So in an effort to better educate parents, Proactive Partners of Lincoln County are hosting a venue to help parents, grandparents, teachers and the community on the dangers related to cyber crimes. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Bonfils Auditorium, located at 200 Buchanan St. in Troy (Directly across the street from Powell Memorial Library). Detective Tony Stewart will be the presenter for this event and believes by putting safety first, people can prevent the worst.

This is a collaborative presentation with the Troy Police Department and St. Charles County Cyber Crime Task Force.
