A word from Elsberry Mayor Terry Martin
I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather the last few days. We are still under drought conditions throughout the entire State, According to the National Weather Service we can expect to see these conditions until maybe November.
The Elsberry City Water project is about 75% complete. The lines will have been pressure tested for leaks and the tie inns to the water meters have begun. Dust control is still a major problem due to the dry weather. Work has begun on patching some of the blacktop where the streets were cut open for some of the excavating. We should begin a major cleanup of the areas where the excavation has been completed and begin patching the streets, grading and seeding of the lawns. The new water tower is well under way; the majority of the sections have been assembled and welded on the ground. The contractor should start the erection of the tower very soon.
The people of Lakeview Subdivision now have their temporary water well in service. The Community Development Block Grant to fund City water lines to Lakeview has been signed. The project will take about six months to complete and will be additional income for the City of Elsberry.
