The season of sports is here and folks are gearing up for what many are calling an interesting year. Probably one of the most anticipated teams this season is that of the Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks Football, now coached by Lynn Nutt.
“Coach Falloon told me before leaving that there might be something he was planning on doing, he kept myself and the other coaches well in the loop of his plans,” said Nutt. “It was hard for him to leave, we all know that. He loved this team, the school and these kids.”
Although, Nutt said it was a tough way for his boys to start the season, it played well into his ideas of helping them learn to overcome adversity. According to him, a lot of what he plans on teaching this year is playing through the hard moments and so far he believes they are doing just that.
“They faced adversity right off the jump with us losing Falloon,” Nutt said. “But seeing them get through it and hit the field hard shows us, shows me, that they are more than ready for anything this season will throw at them.”
Starting Quarterback for the IndianHawks Jack Hicks said he has overheard some folks talking about how they don’t expect a lot out of them this year, seeing as they lost some key players, such as Scott Kroeger, Travis Pruitt, Brennen Hurley and so many others.
“I overheard some people saying how Bowling Green didn’t have anybody this year, how they lost a lot of people, same with Louisiana and how we are all going to be awful,” Hicks said. “I completely disagree. I think we’re going to better than we were last year. Our big goal this year is to win a playoff game, seeing how we haven’t won one yet. I expect to go deep into the playoffs.”
However, Strongside Linebacker and Right Tackle Devin Linton said instead of going to the playoffs he wants to go through them.
