At Tuesday’s primary election held in Lincoln County, Kristen Burkemper defeated incumbent Krysti Henke to become the new county treasuer. Burkemper won 3,250-2,138. Henke was in her first term.
In the sheriff’s race, it will be a ‘rematch’ between incumbent Mike Krigbaum, Democrat and Republican John Cottle for sheriff. The two met in the Democratic Primary four years ago. Krigbaum (1,297 votes) defeated challengers David Oney (868) and Jason Powell (174). Cottle, a former deputy sheriff, received 3,911 votes and William G. Barnes II garnered 1,3413.
With Democrat Ben Burkemper winning the nomination for 45th Judicial Circuit Judge, he will be opposed by Chris Kunza Mennemeyer who defeated Gary Grunick (2,963-2,403).
Betty Cox won renomination for a new term as public administrator as she defeated challenger Don Lotterer (1,953-391). Cox will be opposed in November by Carol Wessel-Boyer who ran unopposed.
Lincoln County voters approved Constitutional Amendment No. 2 (public prayer) with a 90 percent approval rating.

State Representative (64th): Wayne Henke vs. Robert Carnejo)
Associate Commissioner (Dist. 1): Eugene Galloway vs. John Scheper

County Clerk: Crystal Hall and Vanessa Guyot.
Coroner: Kelly Arcand and Lisa Sitler.
