A 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated by John G. and Bonnie (Shirley) Amery of Elsberry with a family dinner. Those attending included their children: Shirley Jennings with husband, Mark and Dr. John Amery with spouse Jasmin (Sarino). All the grandchildren helped celebrate the day: Samantha and Martina Jennings, and Elaine and Julia Amery.
Among immediate family members who attended the wedding at Mandeville Methodist Church in Carroll County and were unable to attend the 50th anniversary were: Mabel Amery of Braymer, mother of the groom, and Harold Shirley, of Carrollton, father of the bride.
The wedding attendants, Jeannie and Dr. James Carson Baker of Blacksburg, Virginia recently visited in the home of the bride and groom.
Additional wedding party members who survived the sweltering heat in the non-air conditioned community church on June 30, 1962 included: John Dee Shirley, Dick Dodds, Wesley Toomay, Mary Gladys Graham, Helen Pitts, Glen Austin, Erma Lee Jenkins, Janice Mae (Dodds) Jacobs, Donna (Hundley) O’Dell, Linda Hundley, Janet (Hundley) Smith, Julie (Evans) Preisser, Ina Ruth Craven, Bill Jenkins, Bobby Jenkins, Dee Kavanaugh, Kathryn Barnes, Norma Hundley, Donna Kay (Barnes) Yow, Karen (Barnes) Kalthoff, Mary Ann (Rose) Lanoue, Patsy (Stewart) Wiggens, Rev, Elmer Fenton and Rev. George Londagin.
