Star Hope Baptist Church does ‘Amazing’ things at this years VBS

Summer Jones, who was just one of the many volunteers participating in VBS, helped children within several age groups construct a variety of different crafts. Following arts and crafts, the children sat down and enjoyed snacks provided by kitchen staff volunteers.

Over 50 Elsberry area boys and girls enjoyed learning about the “amazing power” of God and the “awesome greatness” of God’s creation, according to Star Hope Baptist Church Pastor Allen Calkins. The children participated in the week long “Amazing Wonders Aviation Vacation” Bible School conducted by Star Hope Baptist Church, which began on May 29 and ended on June 2.

Using the theme of an old-fashioned aviation travelogue visiting six of the great natural wonders of the world, Star Hope’s VBS staff was able to help the children better understand God’s word with daily bible lessons concerning God’s power over nature, circumstances, sin, death and every life surrendered to God’s control.

“What makes these recent Lifeway Vacation Bible Schools like ‘Amazing Wonders Aviation’ so fun and exciting for the kids and the teachers is how every aspect of the VBS is tied to the same daily theme. Even recreation activities and snacks reinforce the day’s Bible theme,” Calkins said. “ The children especially seemed to enjoy the energetic songs they got to learn in the daily ‘Worship Rally.’ By the end of the week, the kids knew every word and action of every song and I believe this a great thing because the VBS songs they learned are filled with great Bible truths.”
