Auditor says system is flawed
When I stepped into the position as the first elected Auditor of Lincoln County, it was obvious there was a long list of issues to work on.
I had many goals for the office and I assumed that my office would be backed and supported by the commission equal to the other offices.
All other officials have at least a part time assistant.
Some of the other officials with full time help don’t even spend 40 hours a week in the office themselves and the scope of their duties is far less reaching and demanding than the auditor’s.
So I assumed if they had staff then the auditor’s office would also be given enough budget to hire staff.
But I have learned that the system is flawed.
