Legion Baseball has once again reached a fevered pitch in Elsberry.
Gregg White’s AA team started last week off with a doubleheader against Warrenton on July 2.
Elsberry won both games by scores of 6-0 and 18-1, respectively.
White’s team then played Pacific on the road in a game that ended with no score.
Elsberry’s AA team took to the road for the rest of the week following that game and won first place in their district.
On July 3 Jeff Keiser’s A Legion team lost at home to Warrenton.
That loss means that Keiser’s team isn’t eligible to play in the district tournament that will begin on July 8.
Jason Howard’s A team, on the other hand, will be competing in that tournament.
“We finished up district play at 14 and 6 and got the fourth seed for the district tournament,” said Howard. “We will need to play our best baseball of the year to try and make a run and win.”
Most of the action at home last week came in the form of AAA games.
Joe Pott’s team lost to St. Charles on the road on July 1 by a final score of 13-3, won against Warrenton at home 2-1 on July 3 and then cruised right into the annual Fourth of July Tournament held on their own turf.
