Volmert nominated to replace Schuette for Presiding Commissioner in Primary and General Election
The Lincoln County Democratic Central Committee has nominated Jim Volmert to replace Mark Schuette on the ballot for the upcoming election for Presiding Commissioner in the August Primary and in the general election in November.
Schuette removed his name from the ballot for personal reasons.
Volmert was appointed by Governor Jay Nixon to serve as the county’s first auditor from 2009 to 2010 and previously was a successful local business owner from 1989-2005.
He and his wife were owners of Crossroads Chrysler-Dodge located in Moscow Mills.
Volmert has won several primary elections in Lincoln County in the past but later lost in the general elections.
Volmert is a Vietnam veteran and Bronze Star recipient.
He is an active member at Sacred Heart Church and Parish in Troy and serves as president of the Sacred Heart Men’s Club.
He also serves on the church finance board and holds other positions.
Volmert is the current treasurer of the Lincoln County Democrat Club.
He and his wife Marilyn have been residents in Lincoln County for approximately 25 years and currently reside near Moscow Mills.
Marilyn is a teacher at the Sacred Heart Elementary School in Troy.
They have six children, six grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a Yorkshire dog named Coco.
Volmert is confident that his past business experience and county auditor’s experience will assist him with ideas for moving the country forward for residents in the years to come.
