Legion Baseball Recap June 24-30
Elsberry Legion A (Keiser) first baseman Spencer Keiser (red) holds on Legion A (Howard) runner Cameron Turnbull (white) during one of Monday nights two games at the American Legion Field. Howard’s team won both, 6-3 and 8-3.
Elsberry’s Legion Baseball players were busy wrapping up the regular season this week.
Elsberry’s A and AAA teams [coached by Jason Howard and Joe Pott, respectively] started things off on June 24 with games on the road and at home.
Howard’s A team lost 9-0 to St. Charles at home, followed by a 4-0 loss to Washington at home that same night.
Pott’s AAA team was victorious on the road against Wentzville by a final score of 5-3.
“We are finding ways to win despite not having a full team,” said Pott. “We gave Wentzville their first loss of the season. They were previously undefeated in league play. When we played them and Washington earlier on in the season, we had the lead going into the late innings in both games but could not hold on. The nine inning game is new to a majority of the team but our boys are learning how to manage the game better.”
