Elsberry Lady Indians soccer team fell 4-0 to Warrenton at home on April 16.

The Elsberry Lady Indians soccer team lost to Warrenton at home on April 16 by a final score of 4-0.

“We had a situation where some of the kids hadn’t shown up for practice the previous day so I had to start a different line-up,” said Head Coach Hector Bencomo.

That line-up included Passion Hunter-Edwards as the team’s goalie, something Bencomo had not tried in the past.

“We started the first half with her as goalie and they scored two goals on us,” said Bencomo. “In the second half we went back to our regular line-up with Leanna [Helm] as goalie and they scored two more.”

Bencomo said Elsberry had numerous opportunities to score against the Warriors but they simply didn’t capitalize.

“Warrenton is a very solid team,” said Bencomo.

Despite the loss, Bencomo said he is still taking the season in stride.

“It’s just one of those things,” said Bencomo. “We will get better with time.”
