FFA lends a hand in saving lives one step at a time

It was a month of giving for the Elsberry FFA as they held their annual blood drive on Nov. 18.

With help from the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center (MVRBC), they were able to retrieve blood from approximately 51 people, obtaining 37 units of blood. Majority of those who came were high school students.

The MVRBC is the exclusive provider of blood products and services to 87 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. From these locations, MVRBC collects blood at 16 fixed site donor centers and at more than 4,000 mobile blood drives held each year. They provide world-class blood products and services to communities in need. As a not-for-profit community blood center, they depend fully on the generosity of volunteer blood donors to fulfill our mission.

“Our mission was to help save lives one step at a time,” said Tara O’Brien, Elsberry FFA Chapter member.
