Burglaries on the rise; Chief reminds community to be aware

N1310P59008CIt is that time of year again where everyone thinks about family and friends getting together for the holidays. Last minute shopping, wrapping presents and placing them under the tree. This is also the time of year when burglaries go on the rise.

People breaking in to steal what you just purchased as a gift. A simple reminder to lock your doors. Both when you leave the house, and before you go to bed.

Also lock your cars, and don’t leave anything of value behind or in the open where it can be seen. Most burglaries or stealing can be stopped by a few simple steps.

The same steps that you take when you leave a car in the parking lot should be done at home.

If your having packages delivered by UPS or FED-EX to either make arrangements to be home or have it sent to a business to be dropped off. Packages are being taken off peoples porches.

“Don’t make yourself a victim,” said Elsberry Police Chief Robert Bodley.
