Well the season has come to an end for the Elsberry Indians Soccer team, following a 7-2 loss to Lutheran St. Charles on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Although Lutheran was seeded number one for District play, Head Coach Dustin Robinson said he is extremely proud of Dalton Ogden, who scored his only goal of the season and Alex Henke, who would add the teams second and final goal.

“For our season coming to an end, it was nice that two seniors scored our two goals,” said Robinson. “We worked extremely hard during the season and the final score didn`t always show our progress.”

The last month of the soccer season Robinson said the team really began to put things together. However, they just couldn’t catch a break.

“I know it was hard for the guys to stay positive, but they did a great job of never giving up,” said Robinson. “All of my seniors did a great job of leading the team and setting good examples.”

One senior that Robinson wanted to single out was Brennan Slaughter, who really came out this season and was playing his best soccer towards the end.

“He was asked to help control the middle of the field and he did just that,” said Robinson. “I am very happy with his play and I hope he is as well.”

Another senior Robinson wanted to mention was Adam Sherrow, who ended his season with a knee injury. However, according to Robinson, he still did a great job running the team’s defense.

“I wish he had played more years,” said Robinson. “He came in and played almost every minute of every game and did a great job.”

Robinson went on to talk about Mason Cameron, who battled some health issues throughout the season.

“When he came in to play, he would take our team to a whole new level,” said Robinson. “Seth Lyskoski has to be the best teammate you can ask for. He will do whatever it takes to help the team and has grown as a soccer player.”

Robinson went on to explain how Henke was the vocal leader of the group. According to him, Henke is a guy that hates to lose, but knows how to keep his teammates motivated.

“Alex will be hard to replace because of his leadership on and off the field,” said Robinson. “I couldn`t say enough about this group that is leaving us.”
